Bellator Dublin: Bulaid vs. Freitas and it’s potential to be a striking masterclass

Bellator are marking their return to Dublin in style. There’s 20 fights on the card and if the last ones are anything to #go by then it should be a great event. The Irish fans always deliver for their own too. Probably one of the standout fights on the card for me is Ilias Bulaid vs. Diego Freitas. Although this fight has probably gone under the radar for most it has endless amounts of potential.

Both of these men are well versed in the art of striking. Both competing professionally as kickboxers before making the switch to MMA. Both have featured under the Enfusion banner before and have fought world level athletes across various shows.

Bulaid is arguably the more experienced of the two but that may not mean very much inside of the cage. Considering both are high level strikers, this one is expected to stay standing. If so, this could be fight of the night where two explosive, experienced kickboxers going toe to toe in 4oz gloves.

Now training at SBG, Bulaid has shown what he can do inside the cage. Last time Bellator Dublin he looked incredible, absolutely dominating his opponent until landing a flush knee to finish the fight. It was an amazing way to debut.

As for Freitas, he’s not made the walk to the cage just yet. This fight will be his debut, however, if you look at some of his kickboxing highlights, he likes to get things done in style too. Back in his Enfusion days he knocked out Andrej Bruhl with a sweet high kick to close the show in opening round of the fight.

This difference in this one could be those minimal details in striking or how well each man is able to mix things up inside the cage. The fight could be a place to show the versatility in their game and grapple, or it could go as many expect and it could just be a pleasure to watch both men strike for the fight.

Regardless of that I think this one could be fight of the night or potentially have knockout of the night written all over it. Don’t blink for this one.
