ONE Championship: A New Tomorrow Results and Highlights

Knockouts in Bangkok

ONE Championship’s first event of the year delivered knockouts galore!

Rodtang retains the Flyweight Muay Thai belt with a TKO of Jonathan Haggerty

A very aggressive Rodtang (261-41-10) made easier work of Jonathan Haggerty (15-3) than in their first meeting, retaining the Flyweight Muay Thai title with a third round TKO.

Rodtang showed his aggressive style constantly pushing the pace and punishing Haggerty with wave after wave of body shots securing a knock down in the first round. After a more even second round, Rodtang again dumped the British fighter early in round 3. Following a brief medical break for an eye poke, Rodtang again unleashed his fists into Haggerty’s body putting him on the canvass. Haggerty got up for the final time before more flurries from Rodtang finished the round with a TKO.

Stamp Fairtex continues her quest to add MMA belt to Muay Thai and Kickboxing belts

Stamp Fairtex (4-0) made her fourth MMA outing against Indian fighter Puja Tomar (4-4). Tomar took the fight to the ground early in round 1, but came out worst giving, away her back to Stamp. Stamp was unable to secure victory with her rear naked choke attempt, but after more grappling exchanges, Stamp once more ended up in back mount and unleashed ground and pound to the head of Tomar. Without any defence, the referee called intervened and stopped the fight at 4.27 in round 1.

Thanh Le continues unbroken finishing record

Vietnamese – American Thanh Le (11-2) made short work of Japanese fighter Ryogo Takahashi (13-3) with a first-round knock-out. Le maintains his unbroken finished rate in One Championship and if he continues this momentum, he looks to be in line for a future title fight.

Liam ‘Hitman’ Harrison secures the KO

British fighter Liam Harrison (86-23-2) had a good night, securing a round one knock out of Mohammed ‘Jordon Boy’ Bin Mahmoud (32-6). Harrison knocked down the Malaysian fighter three times, but the third time he was out cold.

Zoltsegseg shows he is a fighter to watch

Mongolian fighter Zoltsegseg (11-2-1) made an impressive debut in ONE Championship. The ONE Warrior series contract winner knocked out Chinese Ma Jia Wen (6-3) in 55 seconds. Rather entertainingly – upon coming around, a clearly confused Wen tried to attack the referee Olivier Coste.
