UFC 235 Betting Preview

We’re back again this week with a blockbuster PPV card from the T-mobile arena.

Last weekend saw Trator Prazeres being the only selection to let us down, and at rock bottom odds!

Hopefully we can go one better this weekend and clean sweep of winning selections.

Zabit Magomedsharipov v Jermey Stephens

I’m a little surprised at how big Zabit has opened here. I was expecting him to be a shorter favourite.

Much respect to Stephens but I feel he always falls short against the elite in the division.

The way I see the fight is that Stephens need to connect with a big shot to win the fight. He won’t outpoint Zabit over the three rounds and he’s not winning by submission in my opinion. Can he hit that big shot? Of course it’s a chance, but I feel Zabit will play to his strengths here and use his wrestling to either outpoint Stephens or possibly grab a submission.

Selection: Zabit Magomedsharipov $1.40

Zabit by Submission

Tyron Woodley v Karamu Usman

Feel this fight is a little too soon for Usman. He’s an excellent wrestler and has decent hands but I think Woodley is a better wrestler and has the better hands. I also think Woodley has the better fight IQ of the two. Usman is talking the talk this week on embedded but I’m not buying it. I think Woodley will win the grappling exchanges and has the power to possibly finish Usman.

Selection: Tyron Woodley $1.53

Jon Jones v Anthony Smith

On man, I don’t think Smith is going to have it good this weekend.

Again it’s a step too far for me. Beating Rua and Rashad is one thing but taking on arguably the best of the best is a different level. I’ll give Smith props for his rise to top of division and he made short work of Volkan Oezdemir, but I think Jones does this how ever he wants to. Everything that Smith does well and are his strengths, Jon Jones has shown to do better. Jones rock bottom odds for the win so I’ll take a shot on him catching Smith with something early either on the feet or on the ground.

Selection: Jones wins in round 1 $3.75

Multi: Jones, Woodley and Zabit $2.41
