UFC 240 Fighter to Watch: Niko Price

A closer look at Niko Price ahead of his UFC 240 bout against Geoff Neal.

Since joining the UFC in 2016, Niko “The Hybrid” Price has never gone to the judges scorecards, and is a fan favourite in what is arguably the deepest division in the promotion. His most notable wins include Tim Means, Randy Brown, and Alan Jouban, with the KO of Brown being one of the most memorable KO’s in recent history. With Brown in the dominant position and Price on his back, he unleashed a series of hammerfists which finished the fight and earned him a performance of the night bonus.

Price is a dangerous fighter, and can end a bout at any given time. 12 of his 13 professional victories ended without going to the judges scorecards, demonstrating that “The Hybrid” has a true gift of being able to land heavy blows at the oddest moments in a fight. Aside from the possibility of landing a sudden knockout, Price does have the advantage of being slightly taller and longer than Neal. As such, Price should have an easier time catching Neal off guard with punches from abnormal ranges.

Since making his debut, Price has established himself as a must-watch fighter, but the 29-year-old has yet to break into the division rankings. A win here may very well change that situation.

Neal has quite a bit of hype behind him, and this fight will take place on the main card of a pay-per-view, headlined by a top 5 pound-for-pound fighter. If “The Hybrid” scores another dramatic finish, he may find himself in the cage with a ranked opponent later in the year, with many fans wanting to see a fight with Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos in the near future. Niko Price vs. Geoff Neal will be the last fight before the main and co-main event’s, meaning a packed crowd will be watching what very well may be the fight of the night.
