UFC 247 Betting Preview

Story by Michael O’Shea (@knobs11)

Welcome back everyone! I’m back again to voice my opinions on this weekend’s UFC card that comes from Houston, Texas. Tight card value wise for me, but I’m keen on a four fold multi and some possible value in championship fights. Let’s hope your form matches up with mine.

Lauren Murphy vs. Andrea Lee

First fight I’m keen on is some action in this women’s flyweight battle.

I’m keen here that Angela Lee can bounce back from an average performance against JoJo Calderwood.

Lee has the advantages here everywhere in my opinion and I feel this is a good fight for her to get back on track. She has the hands and the feet to hurt Murphy, and will win the wrestling/grappling for mine.

Just feel she’s a step ahead of Murphy and I’m happy at current odds to throw Angela Lee into my Four Fold.

Derrick Lewis vs. Ilir Latifi

I’m keen on “Black Beast” here. Not sure fighting Lewis in your heavyweight debut is the best idea but props to Latifi for taking on the challenge. I feel Latifi will be undersized against Lewis and I think he will gas hard after the first round. I know Lewis’ cardio isn’t anything to behold but I think he withstands a wrestle fest 1st round and gets a finish in two or three. Latifi will more than likely try to take Lewis down in the first round but I feel Lewis will hit him with a shot somewhere along the way and get the TKO.

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Katlyn Chookagian

Valentina all day here. While I respect what Chookagian has done in her career to get to this point, this is the top of the mountain. Valentina is the best in the division. Katlyn throws lots of volume without much hitting and Valentina is the opposite. She throws and tags and hits.

Just feel a huge class advantage here and I’ll take Valentina all day everyday.

Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes

I admire Reyes’ rise through the division but that Volkan fight lingers in my memory.

Jones is the greatest fighter ever to grace the light heavyweight division and possibly the UFC.

Simply, I think he will have too many weapons for Reyes. Jones tends to try win these type of fights using what is seemed to be his opponents advantage over him. I think this theory follows this weekend and I think he finishes Reyes by TKO. Jones ML is the final leg of my Four Fold parlay.

Four Fold Multi:

Andrea Lee, Derrick Lewis, Valentina Shevchenko, Jon Jones @ $2.53

Some other odds that looked good to me:

Shevchenko vs. Chookagian

Fight Does Not go the distance @ $2.55

Think Shevchenko has the tools to win this either by TKO or Sub.

Chookagian is as tough as they come but over five rounds I think Valentina is a good shout to get it done.

Adams vs. Tafa

Fight ends in Round 1 @ $2

Tafa is round 1 uppercut or bust. Expect Adams to get a ground and pound finish in first if Tafa doesn’t get that early knock out.

Ewell vs. Martinez

I think Ewell has the hands to finish him here. His losses are against some top prospects (Patrick Mix, Nat Wood, Chito Vera). Think he’s a little underrated here. Generous price for ML @ $1.85.

KO @ $9 is big and worth a play for me.

That’s it’s for UFC 247. Good luck if you’re having a punt and I hope my form matches up with yours.
