Despite losing the co-main event just a day before the first horn, UFC Greenville was all systems go as a potential FOTY contender topped the card. Opening the main card was a pair of middleweights as Kevin Holland squared off against Alessio Di Chirico. Since earning a contract on DWNTCS last year, Kevin Holland has gone 2-1 inside the octagon and is coming off a win against Gerald Meerschaert back in March. On the other side of the cage is Alessio Di Chirico who holds a record of 12-2 and hasn’t fought since July of last year. In a back and forth fight, in which Kevin Holland dislocated his shoulder, it was the American who prevailed on the judges scorecards via a unanimous decision to move to 3-1 inside the UFC Octagon.
Next up was Andrea Lee vs Montana De La Rosa at Womens flyweight. Lee was looking to put aside her personal problems aside with a win over the streaking Montana De La Rosa. With a combined 10 fight win streak and a place inside the divisions top 10 up for grabs, both women were looking to make a statement. It was a super slick grappling match with many fun transitions but it was Lee who was the superior fighter and that showed on the judges scorecards winning via unanimous decision to continue her unbeaten start in the UFC to 3-0. Bantamweights were up next as Andre Ewell faced off against Anderson dos Santos. After Ewell’s debut win over former champion Renan Barao, the American lost to Nathaniel Wood back in 2018 via submission. Dos Santos was looking to get his first UFC win after a unsuccessful debut against Nad Narimani. From the start, Ewell was landed at will and by the end of the first round, Dos Santos’ face was marked and bruised. The other 2 rounds followed the same style and it was the American who got the nod on the judges scorecards.
In the new co-main event of the evening, fan favorite Bryan Barberena went up against Randy Brown at Welterweight. After a much slower anticipated first 2 rounds, it was the 3rd round which caught fire. After a front kick to the solarplex of ‘Bam Bam’, Brown poured on the pressure and eventually got the finish against a very tough Barberena. In the main event of the evening, Renato Moicano was aiming to get back into the win column against The Korean Zombie. Sung Yung himself was coming off a last second knockout to Yair Rodriguez back in November 2018. Moicano on the other hand was coming off a KO loss to former champion Jose Aldo earlier this year. After a tentative first 25 seconds, The Korean Zombie landed an almighty overhand right which instantly put Moicano down and just like that, the fight was over and The Korean Zombie put himself right back into contention.
