UFC Phoenix Betting Preview

It’s a decent looking card this weekend. Better overall fights than last weekend PPV so hopefully they provide us with some quality fights. After being plagued with injuries for so long it will be good to see Velasquez make fight again.

Again let’s hope we find a little value and a few winners!

Jodie Esquibel v Jessica Penne

I think Penne has an edge here. Esquibel has a loss to Alex Chambers on her record, which is not a good look by any means. She’s had two tough matchups in her UFC career so far and I don’t think it gets any easier this weekend. Penne, returning from a two year USADA ban, was unlucky to lose to Danielle Taylor via split decision in her last UFC outing. I’m keen that Penne can win the grappling exchanges and possibly end up on top here. She’s a small shot to take a submission win for me.

Pick: Penne at odds of $1.66 and including it in a multi.

Andre Fili v Myles Jury

I’m very high on Jury to bounce back here. He got caught clean by Chad Mendes, but there’s no shame in that, these things happen in MMA. I think Jury has better hands than Fili and hits harder. Fili’s output is always a concern and I think Jury can win by TKO or take a 30-27.

Pick: I’m got Jury at odds of $1.61 and he goes into the multi.

Vincente Luque v Bryan Barberena

I think somebody’s going to get clipped here, at least. Barberena hits hard but he’s liable to leave himself open in wild exchanges. The openings were there in the Ellenberger fight and Luque hits like a truck.

Pick: I’ll take Luque in the multi at $1.28 and I’d also be interested in the round one knockout once odds are available.

Benito Lopez v Manny Bermudez

Oh man, this is an underrated fight.

Bermudez been triangle choking people for fun and Lopez has had two impressive wins in this UFC stint so far. He also beat a top fighter on contender series. The way I’m angling here is fight doesn’t go the distance.

Bermudez can finish this fight if it hits the floor, he’s a legit threat with his triangles.

Lopez has heavy hands though and can finish him if Bermudez can’t get the takedowns he needs.

Pick: Fight doesn’t go the distance.

Main event and Co-main event
No real bets caught my attention in these, however, in the co-main I’d lean towards Felder at $1.83 over James Vick. Just feel that Felder more battle ready for this one especially after Gaethje sparked Vick last time out. I think Felder can put the pressure on and possibly get the finish.

In the main event, I’m torn. There are so many question marks surrounding Velasquez after the layoff. I think he possibly outwrestles Ngannou but the price is still a little low for me.

The Ngannou price is not high enough to justify a bet especially if he cannot finish Cain. Regardless of that, I’m just looking forward to seeing how it breaks down.

Multi: Jury- Penne- Luque $3.41
LongShot: Jury- Penne- Luque- Andrea Lee- Albu- Felder $18.79
