Pro's react to UFC Wichita.

The UFC visited Kansas for the first time on Saturday night with a Fight night headlined by two Heavyweights. In the main event of the evening former title challengers, Derrick Lewis and Junior Dos Santos faced off against each other. As predicted each was looking to land that one big shot to end the fight. Dos Santos landed the first significant strike of the night with a spinning body kick to Lewis’ gut. The Black Beast winched in pain instantly and Dos Santos finished the round on top. Cigano finished the fight in Round 2 with an overhand right which Lewis never recovered from. JDS is now on a 3 fight win streak since losing his title to Stipe Miocic and it seems another title shot is on the horizon for Dos Santos.

In the co-main event, welterweight finishers Elizeu Zaleski and Curtis Millender squared off. The Brazilian dominated the fight from the first second and eventually submitted Millender via a rear naked choke to extend his winning run to 7 in the UFC. Potential FOTN contender was next up with Niko Price up against Tim Means. It only lasted 4:50 but it was full of action and both fighters were hurt. As Price was wobbled by Means, the latter walked on to right hook and Niko finished the fight in devastating fashion. It was revealed after the fight that Tim Means suffered a broken leg and ankle. We wish him a speedy recovery.

After a 2 year suspension and a 3 year lay off Ben Rothwell returned against Blagoy Ivanov. This fight went the full 15 minutes and was a very close fight with Ivanov coming off the worse after the final bell. However, it was the Bulgarian who edged a unanimous decision to move to 1-1 in the UFC. Beneil Dariush and Drew Dober were up next as both men were looking to make their way into the top 15 of the lightweight division. Dober started strong but when the fight went to the canvas, Dariush showed his dominance and managed to pull off a triangle armbar submission in Round 2. Kicking off the main card was a pair of middleweights as the returning Tim Boetsch was against Omari Akhmedov. Boetsch struggled to land anything significant on the Russian and Omari saw out a unanimous decision.
