Leon Edwards – “I’m not concerned wherever the fight goes, I will look to finish him wherever.”

It was recently announced that Leon Edwards is set to face Gunnar Nelson in the co-main event of UFC London. Following the announcement Edwards spoke about his upcoming bout as well as giving his thoughts on the main event between Darren Till and Jorge Masvidal.

Edwards is aware of his opponents strengths coming into this fight but believes he has more to offer overall. Adding in that he will be looking for a finish wherever the fight takes place.

“I think you know what you’re going to get with Gunnar. He’s got great jiu-jitsu but I feel I am much more well-rounded, particularly on the feet.  I’m not concerned wherever the fight goes, I will look to finish him wherever.”

Edwards is relishing the opportunity to fight in front of a home crowd again. He is undefeated while fighting in the UK and is hoping to continue this streak before bringing the UFC back to his hometown.

“I love fighting at home – I’ve never lost in England and it’s always amazing energy.  I want to put on another great finish for the UK fans and then bring the UFC back to Birmingham later this year.”

The former BAMMA welterweight champion has been vocal about wanting to fight Darren Till for quite some time now. Both of their fights were announced at the same time for UFC London. Despite not getting the fight, Edwards is not concerned by this and is focused on the task ahead, however, is interested in fighting the winner of the UFC headliner.

“I’ve gone on record a number of times wanting to fight both of them and would have loved to fight either in London, but now my full focus is on Gunnar.  I will watch this main event after my fight, and look forward to possibly fighting the winner as I continue to move towards the UFC Welterweight title.”
