UFC Fortaleza in tweets
As the UFC headed to Fortaleza, there was a potential Bantamweight title eliminator serving as the main event. Raphael Assunção and Marlon Moraes faced each other for the second time. The pairing previously met in June 2017 at UFC 212 with Assunção winning the fight via split decision. This was Moraes’ debut in the UFC. Since then, Moraes has gone 3-0 in the promotion including 2 highlight KO’s of contenders Aljamain Sterling and Jimmie Rivera.
However, this time the result was different. Marlon asserted his dominance from the start and landed 2 overhand right’s and downed Assunção. Moraes took advantage and eventually submitted Raphael via Guillotine choke in the first round. In the co-main event, UFC legend Jose Aldo was fighting against perennial featherweight contender Renato Moicano. After a tentative first round, Aldo stalked his opponent and finished him just 44 seconds into Round 2. Next up was Demian Maia, who was looking to snap a 3 fight losing streak against Lyman Good. Good never landed a strike as Maia managed to get his back and sink in a standing rear naked choke in the first round.
The much anticipated lightweight bout between submission specialist Charles Oliveira and David Teymur was next up. Two eye pokes inside the opening round, dampened the mood in Brazil. However, when the fight went to the ground there was only one outcome. Charles Oliveira notched his 13th UFC submission, which is still the record in the UFC. After a stunning KO of Khalil Rountree. Jr back in November, Johnny Walker made light work again of his opponent Justin Ledet. It took the light-heavyweight just 15 seconds to dispatch of Ledet. Kicking off the main card was a women’s strawweight bout between Lívia Renata Souza and UFC debutant Sarah Frota who missed weight by 7 pounds. Souza grinded out a split decision win and improved her record to 2-0 in the UFC.

Lívia Renata Souza v Sarah Frota
And Livinha Souza outpoints Sarah Frota. Not going to lie, it was somewhat frustrating to watch. I thought Livinha was the better fighter, but Frota's size advantage really showed. Thought Frota won that 29-28 btw #UFCFortaleza
