UFC Nashville in Tweets

Pro's react to UFC Nashville.

The UFC went to Nashville on Saturday with what promised to be an explosive night. In the main event of the evening, Stephen Thompson squared off against former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. ‘Showtime’ lived up to his name and produced a stunning ‘Superman’ punch which KO’d ‘Wonderboy’ instantly. The 170lbs division now has a fresh face and contender. In the co-main event, Curtis Blaydes faced Justin Willis. Blaydes dominated the fight for the entire 15 minutes with Willis not being able to offer anything. Curtis has now cemented himself back into title contention.

Next up was a lightweight bout between John Makdessi and Jesus Pinedo. In a fight which didn’t see much action, Makdessi fought out a unanimous decision victory. A potential number one contender fight at flyweight was next up as Jussier Formiga went up against Deiveson Figueiredo. In a closely fought matchup, Jussier managed to out-point the undefeated Figueiredo and put himself in a fantastic position for a title shot. Luis Pena was looking to make a statement in his Featherweight debut against Steven Peterson. Despite Pena missing weight on Friday, he fought his way to a decision victory against a very tough opponent. Opening the main card was the highly touted 20 year old Maycee Barber as she went up against JJ Aldrich. Barber continued to live up to the hype, and delivered a brutal performance and she finished Aldrich in the second round.
