Robert Whittaker OUT of UFC 234 Main Event

The Middleweight title fight is no longer.

UFC 234 has lost its Main Event as ‘The Reaper’ Robert Whittaker has been diagnosed with a Hernia in this abdomen. The Australian started to complain of pain in his abdomen at around midnight last night. He was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a Hernia. The hernia was not linked to the weight cut down to the middleweight limit of 185lbs. This isn’t the first time Whittaker hasn’t been able to defend his middleweight crown. Back at UFC 221 on 10th Feb 2018, he was scheduled to face Luke Rockhold, However he pulled out of the fight a month prior due to an undisclosed injury. Challenger Kelvin Gastelum will not remain on the card.

UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Whittaker will undergo surgery later today to rectify the problem.

Israel Adesanya v Anderson Silva will now serve as the main event of UFC 234. Dana previously stated that this was a number one contender fight for Robert Whittaker’s belt. However, with this latest development the future of the division has a question mark looming over it.
